It is precisely because of this that it is so difficult for many people to drop an addiction, at some point it becomes part of the routine of the addicted and it comes to the point they cannot imagine their lives without it, so instead of trying to find ways in which they can stop their addiction they instead look for ways to keep it going, which is why even if the three scenarios presented in this thread are terrible and the average person will drop gambling if any of those scenarios became true, someone that is addicted will never even think about it and they will try to find an alternative solution to their problems.
Something that is really alarming, as even the three scenarios are present, the addicted gambler will continue in finding ways to continue. Addiction is something that is really hard to battle once it's already conquered your inside mind. The help of every individual will count but the person itself who will treat himself if he's really serious about taking things on his hands,
I as well thinks that medical condition may value the most in stopping gambling, if you know that your life is being threaten the first thing is to find the best way to stop but reading from the post above the poll seems more on the money side.
It is sad but it is the truth, most people which are not addicted to gambling will recognize they are developing some sort of issue with their gambling and stop way before they get to any of those three scenarios, but the addicted will not only get to experiment those or even worse scenarios, they will simply do not see the need to stop and will try to keep their addiction going, and only once they see their life crumbling around them they may think about finding a solution, and there are some extreme cases in which not even that is enough to convince them to make an effort to stop gambling.
