History do not play football, it was 22 quality players (from both sides) that did on that night, Liverpool put up the best performance they could and Madrid being the top team that they are, also gave their best, and in the end came Madrid came out on top in a good game of football, i do not see what history had to do with that.
Let us be honest, Madrid was very lucky to escape all three teams, they were on the brink of defeat against each of these teams, and across the 6 games (home and away) against these teams, Madrid wasn't the better team, especially against City, Madrid were lucky not to concede above 5 goals in the first leg at the Etihad, City were their own undoing. If there is something i would praise about Madrid's CL success, it is the mentality in the team and never say die attitude, after they miraculously escaped City, that was when i knew it was more or less written in the skies that they would be champions.
