That's how the forum works, contribute good content = get Merit, keep shitposting = no rewards for you here. In addition, I think at least a good part of content wouldn't be here if we had no Merit.  Smiley
Activity is a rather meaningless metric since it can be abused by one-liner shitposts. There are tons of pre-Merit era "Legendaries" still posting "Nice project, Sir! Great team and idea. I see a very great potential in your project, SIR"  Cheesy
I'd agree with this. Myself, I give (and believe also receive) merits if something's unique / useful / solves a question or problem or is otherwise interesting to read. Honestly, in times when I get less merits, I admit that my posts are of lower quality and more subjective, discussion-type stuff. As soon as I post something more objectively helpful and constructive, merits start coming in.
I don't care much for them per se, but I use them as a way of self-reflection to help me try keeping a history of constructive, value-adding posts, rather than a wall of useless text that just wastes peoples' time. So with these words, I'm off writing a review... Wink
