Hmm... It is a decentralized form of trading where people transact  directly with each other. Peer-to-peer trading has never been an option for me though since I started trading. Honestly it scares me even though it's being used by a lot of people.Of course people are also scammed through it 
There are two types of p2p trading:

  • decentralized p2p trading like localcryptos
  • centraled p2p trading like on exchanges like Binance, Huobi, OKX, Paxful

I was afraid of P2P trading until my country central bank ban bitcoin and cryptocurrencies. After the ban, all my transactions are P2P and they are all successful. But we are mindful of scam, like not release coin from escrow if you haven't released coins.
