There is a restriction on Ethereum when it comes to composability, you can't do much with Ethereum gambling and the Dapps as the writer has spilt out. The availability of smart contracts has openly given a wider environment for everyone to build but the speed cannot handle these codes, it is not fast to execute these instructions in mili seconds. I get the writer point with some of the options like implementing Dapps for people but if Ethereum doesn't transition from proof of work to proof of stake, it will be hard to enjoy gambling on Ethereum chain, it is better to use Bitcoin or you can deposit your ETH if you like the chain on any of your favourite crypto casino.
