“The people will rise”, “the proles will rise”—this is one of the most damaging myths in history.

The people do not rise.  The proles do not rise.  But empty talk about it appeals to the conceits of the masses; it is a mirage of Hopium.  And this type of thinking helps to paralyze serious-minded activists, if they are so naïve.
