No World Cup can ever be won by relying on one player. So I think if Argentina rely on Messi alone, they will have to give up the hope from the World Cup. Everyone's concentration is needed there. Everyone has to play well. There is a lot of pressure on those who are good players. In that case, most of the time the result will not be good if those players are given extra pressure.
I think that's why Maradona is still called D10S (God). It was probably one of the few players in the history of football that actually could win a world cup on his own.
Messi doesn't have that level. We'll see what happens in this world cup, it's probably his last chance to show the world that he can actually do it. It's only a matter of time to see it now.
