It probably wasn't an or. OP's account must have been hacked or compromised first before it was sold. Sold accounts on the forum are probably either farmed or hacked, but most likely more of the latter when it involves high ranks.

Anyway, as others have pointed out, it seems OP doesn't care about his/her forum account as much as his/her email. He/she's got personal documents in his email. Unfortunately, this forum does not offer email recovery services.
