Maradona was not Messi either. The most important cup missing in Messi's career is the World Cup, and a Messi who will do his best to win it will be a player we will see in this tournament. This tournament will also be important for Messi and Ronaldo. They will both participate in this tournament as the last tournament and both of them want to win this cup more than enough. I must say that Argentina has a better squad than Portugal. If I had a choice between the two, it would be Argentina.
There is no doubt Messi is a great player, and he needs to win World Cup but sadly right now their team is still missing few things which are more important to win World Cup only one player can't do this with this right now Argentina is having not enough firepower which is needed for title.
If I have choice then surely I am not going with them for this world cup because we have more teams which are enough tough and have better firepower to win this year's title specially Brazil is also having good lineup with Germany and France are also strong enough even it's all having some good time but with current situation I have feeling Messi is going to retire from soccer without this prestigious title.
