In my opinion, the desire to win back previous losses is more of an excuse than the real reason why the gambler continues to play. Because at a certain point it becomes obvious that the total amount of losses already significantly exceeds the money that the player can allocate to himself for the game and there is no chance to recoup, and the best option to stop the game is to stop playing. But this does not stop anyone and they continue to "try to win back."
