I agree with you on many points regarding the ease of identifying trusted sites through the forum. But I would like to point out few points:
First, the trust system on the forum can be manipulated and we have seen many successful attempts to get untrusted members into the DT list just to get a positive rating from them about an unknown casino, especially scam sites.
Second, the member evaluation may be correct at a certain time, but it is not valid for every time. The evaluation owner may leave the forum or not return to the forum to review his feedback upon updates.
Third, there are other reliable websites that give good ratings and regularly update their data. You can ask about them here in the forum and use them as well.
Overall, the forum remains one of the best ways to get to the best gambling sites .
Of course, nothing is perfect. But, as you said it yourself, this forum is a good place to get reliable info about a sportsbook. Yes, there are sites doing honest reviews, but most websites with casino ratings hardly can be trusted. What I've noticed is that they can include 3-4 really good sites in their top 10, and then put on the 2nd, or even on the first place, the shady site that paid them, and since there's no forum there, you won't see any objections.
I fully understand your point of view and support it.
In the same way of using bitcointalk forum to inquire about the reliability of a particular casino, we can also inquire about trusted rating sites. I did a quick search for reviews of some of the sites listing gambling platforms and casinos on the Bitcointalk forum and couldn't find anything significant.
This is a good idea for a topic. I will post later here in this section and maybe it will be reference for others as well .
