I saw in the news that Qatar prepared a 220 billion dollar fund for the 2022 world cup which is more money than any host country has ever spent. Qatar is a rich country and has done all the necessary steps to attract visitors. Qatar spent a lot of money to host the World Cup. Now it will be a shame if their country doesn't make it to the next round. I would expect Qatar to at least qualify for the second round
Qatar seems to have almost unlimited amounts of money, especially after the LNG prices jumped by 10x during the last two years. But even then, they gave only $2,000 to $5,000 per head to thousands of laborers who lost their lives during the construction of world cup stadiums. They can spend hundreds of billions of USD in adding more glitter to the world cup. Providing $10,000 each to the families of dead laborers will cost them just $60 million (less than a thousandth of what they are spending for the world cup).
