The award that Mane got became a pride for Bayern Munich as the owner of Sadio Mane who was bought for £35 million from Liverpool
Mane deserves to win the award, which he did. Congratulations to the Bayern Munich star, he helped his country Senegal win the nations cup, and to qualify for the world cup, he was also important to his former club Liverpool in all they achieved last season, so he did enough to be the best player in Africa. This is the second time Mane is winning this award, and i do not think this is going to be his last, he is a great player, and he is going to achieve more success in Bayern and Senegal, so i am rooting for him to win the award more than twice, and join legendary players like Yaya Toure and Samuel Eto'o that have won African footballer of the year award more than twice.
I think awards like this are only for players with attacking positions, because they will see how the player has a good number of goals. That way, a player who plays as a goalkeeper, most of them will be difficult to achieve such an award. Because in my view Edouard Mendy is also very good playing for Chelsea and also for his country which is the same as the country where Mane plays. So I think awards like this don't need to involve goalkeepers, if they involve goalkeepers then the competition is just enough with goalkeepers not mixed in the nominations of strikers and goalkeepers it will be very lame.
