In most cases, people who are addicted to gambling are almost on average not having work activities or we can say unemployment, although it is possible for people who are actively working. 
I think some of the symptoms you mention do not determine someone is addicted to gambling. Anxiety, emotional, stress are common things that happen when I lose a gamble, this is normal and will return to normal after a while.

apart from feeling depressed, helpless, cheating to get gambling capital, this can be an indication of someone being seriously addicted. 
well anything done in excess will have a bad impact.The same goes for gambling activities.
