OP's supposition could just as easily have been about an Internet outage that was only state-wide or just affected their town and it wouldn't have materially changed anything, IMO. Just pointing out that your "What KIND of an IDIOT could think THAT" style response could just as easily have been "The entire US being knocked offline? No, that's not possible IMO."
