I knew people who were able to get rid of hard drugs and I knew gambling addicts who lost huge sums of money in casinos but were able to give it up completely. So I think anyone who says they can't give up gambling and other addictions on their own is just cheating themselves and those around them. He either doesn't want to and doesn't have the core.

Addiction isn’t really an easy feat to overcome. And that’s is probably why it’s called an addiction. Whether it’s drug addiction or gambling addiction, it really isn’t easy to overcome it. An individual has to be disciplined strictly in order to overcome. In some cases, the addict needs to get some help in order to overcome the addiction and that where rehab comes in. We all need each other to thrive and survive. An addict especially needs all the patience, understanding and constant monitoring to overcome an addiction cause it really isn’t an easy feat

Most people don't have an opinion. They prefer to be directed because they are not used to taking responsibility for their actions. Such people find it difficult not only to overcome addiction, but even to live in society. But if a person has life priorities, goals, and a sufficient level of self-discipline, he is able to overcome any addiction. You just need to work on yourself, not look for someone to blame for your problems, and not run away from problems, but solve them.
It's probably misunderstood but people who can't remove addiction from their lives do not mean they DON'T want to. There's a variety of factors involved when it comes to resolving addiction, and it isn't something that most people would really understand. The world isn't so fantasy-like and such that you'd expect to be able to fix something just because you want to. The examples we mostly see of people being fixed from their addiction are the cases of success but the thing is, it isn't the only case out there. There are cases of failure out there that have tried, but couldn't really push through and their "want" is not the only factor at play here, but maybe others as well such as financial issues, proper access to help, environment etc.
