~ In times when there were no TV, no internet and no radio, someone put on a desert island would probably stop gambling, even though he was a gambling addict before. But these days it's practically impossible to isolate yourself from the world. If you choose to stop gambling, you should not gamble even in the midst of a busiest casino in Las Vegas.

The technology keeps you near from anything, online gaming is just a click away from you if you still have internet access, even you change your environment in terms of locations but if you still have access with the digital world it still not easy for you to quit gambling. A case to case though, since there are people who really wanted to free themselves from gambling, they will do everything to succeed.

Self-will is always the prior factor that will send you away from this vice and you will be able to maximize your resources in finding alternative ways to distract yourself from thinking about any gambling activities.

I agree with everything you said except using the word "vice" here. Vice, by definition, is immoral or wicked behaviour. There's nothing immoral or wicked in gambling, unless you gamble with someone else's money.

People around make a great difference. Environment in sense of location is not as important as a society and the motivation

Yeah, but that's what OP meant by "environment", I'm pretty sure, the people around.
