You will agree with me that society and the environment can have a great influence on the lifestyle of every individual, you often can find yourself doing, or being involved in that activity that almost everyone is involved with in that your locale as a result of influence. Now considering someone who is a gambling addict, is there any possibility of him/her becoming better if they are relocated to another environment or society where people around are not involved in gambling?
Yes.

There are times that the main reason why a particular person is gambling is peer pressure. He isn't gambling at first but because of the pressure coming from his friends, they pushed him to gamble and when he find it very entertaining and at the same time he wins on it then it will continue and that is the start of him getting addicted to gambling. Now if he will be relocated and will go to a place where there is no casinos to gamble with then he will gradually change especially his attitudes and he might return to his actual self before he was involved into gambling.

Can someone still develop the habit of gambling and become an addict even though no one around gambles?
I think it still depends on the situation.

There are some gambling addicts who are stopping whenever they can't find any casinos nearby but there are some especially those who has a high level of addiction that will find any way just to let them do what they want to do which is gambling. Now that we are in a digital era where you can gamble with the use of smartphones, a gambler might try to gamble online if he can't find any casinos nearby so there is still a chance that he might be addicted of gambling even when no one around gambles with the help of smartphone and internet.
