April 4th: Automatic checkpointing introduced.
Update ASAP to v. 1.3.0.0
Does this update fix the KGW timewarp attack?
This does not explicitly deal with TW. That will require a hard fork that will be introduced at a later date.
This ensures that such an attack (and 51% attacks) will be rendered useless. But the network needs to update to 1.3.0.0 for the protection to work. Also gives us time to carefully think through any changes we make.
I agree. Automatic checkpoints will prevent such attacks. However I don't like centralized checkpoints they are good solution at this time; they don't require hard fork so they gives more time to make the the TW fix effective and thus reduces the (albeit small) natural risks associated with all hard forks.
