Correct, but many people are not informed enough about the tracking abilities that companies have these days, so they make the mistake of keeping their old smartphone or email accounts and that is how those companies keep sending them information related to gambling.

We need to remember that leaving an addiction is not something that you can just do and then be done with it, it is a process and for most people it is a process that will last for their entire lives, so while for people like us ignoring such promotions is not a big problem the same cannot be said about those which have or had gambling issues.
And this is because even if a person is able to leave an addiction behind that doesn't mean that they could not fall back into addiction if for some reason they were psychologically weak at that time, for example if a family member died and they were in the middle of a depression and then they received a notification telling them they had a promotion on their old casino account it will be way more difficult for them to not fall into temptation and begin to gamble again.
