So the biggest NBA news today is Lebron James' 2-year contract extension worth a staggering $97.1 million. He now reclaimed the highest paid NBA player in the league and at the same time the highest total salary earnings in the history of the NBA which is half a billion dollars. The amazing achievement of an already 37-year-old baller. But we will see if his dream of becoming a champion once again becomes a reality. Many legendary veterans before like Tim Duncan and Dirk Nowitzki sacrificed huge portions of their salaries in order for the team to create openings and be able to compete at the top. The Lakers though is a different team since it is one of the richest teams in the NBA so maybe they are willing to pay an additional luxury tax of more than 100% of its players' salaries just like the Warriors.
Lakers do have that budget, they are capable and willing to exceed in order to regain their franchise name,

Not sure though if the move of giving LeBron such a huge amount even in his age is a great idea, but that's how business works.
You can keep the fans and convert to profitable business if you have one of the top star.

I don't want to argue with anyone so better to be safe by saying one of the top caliber star of all time.
