This is why we called if as a Myths since many believes that getting into gambling is a crime well in fact many are still a good individual who are just trying to have fun and have some money as well. Though we cannot blame those people who think gambling is a crime, because maybe they experience this on their own and they might probably know someone who are already addict in gambling and commit a crime just to support that addiction, which is very common.
if you read this topic again [Japanese man gambled away a huge Covid-19 relief funds mistakenly sent to him] then you will no longer blame people who think that gamblers are criminals even though in reality not all gamblers are criminals

That is a rare case.  Not all gamblers will do that.  I think only a small percentage of gambler commit crimes, that is when they are deeply addicted to gambling and has no means to gamble so they resort to crimes.  It is still not right to generalize gamblers.  Because each one of them is different from the other.

I am a gambler too but have never robbed, killed, been caught by the police and even stole but if my neighbors knew I was gambling then they would immediately say I am a criminal

I keep thinking that as long as I gamble not using people's money, debt or with money laundering then I am not a criminal, I gamble for my pleasure

Lol, your neighbors has an issue.  So better ignore them.  As long as you are not doing  anything wrong, they don't have the right to discriminate you.
