That could explain why your seed phrase doesn't restore anything when restored in Electrum. Armory does use seed phrases, but they're not Bip39 compatible.
Armory gives you 18 sets of meaningless four-letter words which is called root key.
Given that OP has a seed phrase including 12 words, it can't be generated by Armory.
