So the biggest NBA news today is Lebron James' 2-year contract extension worth a staggering $97.1 million. He now reclaimed the highest paid NBA player in the league and at the same time the highest total salary earnings in the history of the NBA which is half a billion dollars. The amazing achievement of an already 37-year-old baller. But we will see if his dream of becoming a champion once again becomes a reality. Many legendary veterans before like Tim Duncan and Dirk Nowitzki sacrificed huge portions of their salaries in order for the team to create openings and be able to compete at the top. The Lakers though is a different team since it is one of the richest teams in the NBA so maybe they are willing to pay an additional luxury tax of more than 100% of its players' salaries just like the Warriors.

LeBron has had a phenomenal career, and I'm really impressed that he can still show great results to qualify for such a huge contract. Honestly, I don't think there has been any other player over the age of 37 who could also qualify for that kind of paycheck. By the way, LeBron will be 40 years old after the end of the 24/25 season, and it's even sad to realize as it means this contract will probably be the last or penultimate one of his career.
Lebron is one of the greatest NBA players of all time that's why he is qualified for that huge contract. He is still athletic even though he is 37 years old already though we will agree to the fact that he sometimes feel the fatigue in some games that he can't do some defensive stops but overall, he is still one of the greatest NBA players of all time.

In this upcoming season, Lebron will try to beat Kareem in the top in scoring and with his average PPG last season which is around 30+, he can do it this season. Like what happened when Curry beat Ray Allen's record of most 3pt shots in career, I'm pretty sure that Kareem will be there when Lebron surpass his record and that will be one of the greatest memories for Lebron and for the fans as well.

In terms of contract, correct me but Bronny will try to get drafted in the NBA 2 years from now so he really will do what he wants to do - to have a father and son in one team. If that happens, Lebron at that time might sacrifice some of salary to have cap space.
