You are right, many Altcoins tried to spread FUD against Bitcoin and will keep spreading FUD but won't succeed.Altcoiners can call Bitcoin slow for example. But it won't make any difference for Bitcoin because Bitcoin is already established.
Another reason is people who missed out to buy bitcoin at a certain low, they try to cause FUD so that weak hands will sell off and drag the price low for them to accumulate the more.
