Congratulations to the Sri Lankan team for becoming champions for the sixth time. It was unexpected that Sri Lanka would be championing this year. Sri Lanka was badly beaten in the first match. Then they make a grand comeback. And won by dominating almost every match.
Today's pitch was a bowling-friendly pitch. Pakistan batsmen's performance was very bad. A small target of 122 runs was not possible to win. Still Pakistan tried to win the match. Pathum Nissanka's responsible batting prevented Pakistan from winning. He was unbeaten with 55 runs off 48 balls. Nissanka is the main hero of today's match wins. He has played well when the team needed him.
You are celebrating a bit too early as this was the routine super six match and real final will be played on Sunday which will decide the winner of the Asia cup.
I won't consider this win for Sri Lanka as a significant win as usually when both teams are already in the finals sometimes the players also relax and do not give their 100% performance and commitment.
Although it was not the final match, Sri Lanka's performance in this match was very commendable. Due to the excellent performance of the Sri Lankan bowlers, Pakistan's innings stopped at just 121 runs. Hasaranga and Maheesh bowled very well. Dhananjaya also got just one wicket but conceded just 18 runs in four overs. If the Sri Lankan bowlers can do such a great performance in the final as well then Sri Lanka will win the title.
All these good performances by the Srilankans do not change the odds and they are still favoring Pakistan for the final match.
The biggest reason for this is that Srilanka is not a big team and if you look at their performances other than this Asia cup, you will be surprised that they still managed to reach the finals.
