Coach has to do the right thing for the team and ten Haag is doing for the team. He is measuring players equally based on what kind of performance a player puts on the team. That requires guts which earlier managers didn't had. I don't think benching Ronaldo is useless as he can still can come off the bench and score in a game. There are lot of managers who actually keeps player in subs so that they can use them in attack change their attacking strategy a bit (Simeone for example). The thing is how Ronaldo is handling this situation. For sure he is not loving it but he has to go through this unless he shows some real contribution.
