By defeating defending champions AC Milan 2-1 in a spectacular Sunday night football match, SSC Napoli sent a strong message to their title rivals and finished September atop the Serie A  standings. Sincerity aside, both sides performed admirably and won matches, but fortunately for Napoli, they picked up the point.
