you mean like come to the realization that they are going to just lose more money if they keep gambling?

Rather, do not get carried away.  Problem gamblers know that they are going to lose more money, in the same way that a heroin addict knows he is going to end badly if he doesn't quit.

alcohol and gambling are not the same.

Fentanyl is not the same as either alcohol or gambling but the parallel I am trying to draw is that an ex-alcoholic has the opportunity to drink again in a few minutes, especially if he lives in a city and not in the middle of the mountains. The gambler can also return to gambling in seconds with his cell phone. At the end of the day, the one who recovers knows how to live with it.
