It depends on the faced up card of the dealer if you will double down on soft 17 or not. Remember that Slaman didn't mention the faced up card of the dealer and you just assumed it was small. I'm assuming that dealer faced up card was 7 to 9 when I made the comment above since Slaman still hit at soft 17. Slaman provides only the data that the dealer total card was 11 and when the dealer hits 6 to make 17 which means there's a chance that dealer faced up card is around 7,8,9 too and not only 6 below that's why I'm checking this info to him on my above post.
Yup, Face Up was a high card, which was higher than my 17. And I felt it would be lousy feeling to lose with an Ace, I'm not sure what the dealer card was now but either 8 or 9. I would have stood if it was 7.
Strange to see so much comment about my single hand lol.
My assumption was right. Lol, I will do the same as yours if that is really the case. It's normal that it will receive comment because we are assuming only your real situation to apply the Blackjack standard hand table. It will surely create an argument if someone assume the other way around like what you see on the previous comment.

I just finish yesterday securing my loyalty level. I was planning to do the wager with the weekly promo but it seems that @Joel is still not finish the transitioning of work.
