They are already suffering economically, it's just that Russia is not disclosing the real data.
Actually this will depend on how long this War will last, Ukraine will be the main concern here since they are the one got invaded by Russia. I don't know how fast their application to NATO will be but it can help them at least stop the war with Russia. Green energy might be the good benefit of the trade war against Russia, most of the country in EU are being force to look for alternatives and that can be a big help in the future.
In my opinion Russia has taken a path of no return and they will stop at nothing to annex Ukraine, so whether Ukraine becomes part of NATO will not matter at all as Russia has already threatened with the use of nuclear weapons if this were to happen, so Ukraine will be devastated because of the war while Russia will keep suffering for a long time, but as long as they can sell their natural resources for a high price then they will be able to keep functioning as a country.
