This industry is a business and everyone is here to profit, do you pay fees to use an exchange to trade yes then why would you not allow coin creators to profit to ensure longevity in a coins existence.
Look at bitcoin the main reason it has such a strong infrastructure is it was premined and held and invested in as well, otherwise it would be like any other coin, small dev team and no corporate foundation to ensure long term existence.
