Although Roma managed to finish the match with a narrow victory thanks to Lorenzo Pellegrini goal in the 9th minute from a penalty kick, Roma overall performance in this match was very bad. This is luck for Roma because the only goal that was created in this match through the penalty spot.
Match statistics showed Sampdoria had more control over the match than Roma, Sampdoria managed to control the match with Ball Possession 59 versus 41. Due to poor finishing, Sampdoria had to admit Roma advantage.
Even if you think Roma's performance was very bad in that game, but overall I think Roma deserved to win that match. Samdoria did nothing to harm Roma despite their high possession, while Roma managed to create several chances which Audero saved.
So I don't think Roma were too bad in that match, but they couldn't score more than 1 goal because I saw their strikers being too selfish in front of goal. They want to score goals themselves instead of providing assists for colleagues who are in a position where the chances of a goal are higher.
This defeat made Sampdoria position even worse at the bottom of the standings, Sampdoria had only collected three points from 10 matches that had been undertaken.
It's natural, many Samdoria players don't know where the opponent's goal is even though they have several chances. They haven't scored many goals in the last 10 match, it's just 5 goals.
