Their last three previous match records were the same with a loss, win and draw, and for their last three head to head records they were also at least equal to Empoli winning, Atalanta winning and then drawing.
With a record like this of course Empoli can't be underestimated at all and their head to head record is at least a draw for them to dominate, but what's interesting about their head to head is to get the win by way of an away match.

If this trend can still happen again in this match, then of course Atalanta will win because considering their performance so far, of course Atalanta do have a better chance to win.
But even though Empoli can play well I'm sure Empoli still can't beat Atalanta this season, but Empoli can still target for a draw because Atalanta will also certainly still strengthen its current position because Atalanta lost by Lazio in the previous match.
In their last three matches, Empoli lost against Juventus, drew against Torino and won against Monza. While Atalanta have experienced the same thing in their last three matches, but are superior in goal productivity so far.
However, when viewed from the standings, Atalanta is very superior, and this match will feel quite important for Atalanta, considering the temporary standings are tightly guarded by Roma, Udinese and Inter.

Yes, that's what I said about Empoli and Atalanta having the same result in their last three matches. But of course, even though they had the same result in the last three matches, they played against different teams and different scores as well but with the end result is the same like losing, winning and drawing. But these factors still can't fully guarantee that they have the same strength at this time, and also considering Atalanta who were previously in second place and now Atalanta are in fourth place.

This incident became a rapid decline for Atalanta because the teams below were constantly lurking and therefore, if Atalanta did not want this to happen again then playing against Empoli is mandatory for Atalanta to win. Because if Atalanta lose it will certainly be worse, because Atalanta could have been knocked out of the European zone quickly.
But anyway, I personally believe that Atalanta will certainly win and succeed in defeating Empoli, because on paper Atalanta are indeed better, but that doesn't rule out the possibility of a draw and/or surprises that Empoli might overcome in this match.
