I think this year Barcelona has shown is in much better form than last year,they are doing quite well in La Liga and they only failed in Champions League against Inter and Bayern Munchen which are strong teams,much stronger than the actual ones in the Europa League.
Of course, if you look only at Barcelona's failure in the Champions League, the potential in the Europa League will be a little different. Barcelona can be more daring to compete because after his failure in the Champions League Xavi was determined to maximize the opportunities that exist today. Competitors in the Europa League are not comparable to clubs that have now qualified for the last 16 in the Champions League.
In my opinion, the opportunities for Barcelona in the Europa League are much more open.
