This may be because their minds are already at the point where they are very confused and finally fall into it even though it is very naive to say that gambling can make their daily lives fulfilled because basically this is what makes them even more devastated.
Relying on luck to survive obviously won't always run smoothly in my opinion, so this kind of thing is not the right thing to do.
It all start with low esteem, life failures, depression, heartbrokenness and all manner of life disappointments in their various forms, this are the things that make many gamblers loose hope and give up their determined heart to settle for less, they use gambling to whine away time, ease depression and to yhyet busy and engaged, but gambling with such approach shouldn't be seen as the bus stop to making it in life, rather it must be a means that serves an encouragement to gamblers to position themselves right for diverse opportunities through life by engaging the pleasure and hope of making it through one day.
Things like this are actually if we study further when gambling just for fun and to fill spare time, it's not wrong as long as they don't use all the money they have, but the problem is that many people sometimes give all the money they have for gambling that is functioned in the hope of being able to meet the needs of their lives which of course is not justified.
Anyone can still gamble but we don't need to be that desperate to make gambling a lifeline let alone to fulfill our daily needs.
@Jody.Drummer in gambling relying on luck can work but it won't work only if the gambler relies only on skill when he lacks the needed skill and the game knowledge.
The concept of gambling cannot be separated from luck in this case but to say about deeper knowledge of gambling it should actually look at what kind of games we play in gambling.
If it's a bet like in a sportsbook, obviously there must be more knowledge at least to strengthen that what we bet is based on the performance or winning history that we will support but when talking about slots it is clear that knowledge or experience doesn't really matter because basically things like that are only based on luck.
