For me it is still 101 Merits away to become a hero member, but Im optimistic to archive this by the end of the year 
Senior Member is 84 merits away. I will try to get there by coming December.
When the title is saying count down, I am picturing counting down from 10 or even less but you all made it like counting it down from the beginning LOLI am counting down my next imaginary rank to receive is 7768. 🤣
Seriously, it looks like you are asking favour to receive your merits.
In addition, there is already a thread in the Meta where DdmrDdmr regularly reports on all participants who are close to increasing their rank. All participants publishing here their statements about insufficient merits really look like beggars because the forum has long known everyone who may really need a few merits to increase in rank as soon as possible.

In short this thread got out of hand after some users actually managed to get enough merit and rank up. The OP's idea may be good, but it's hard to prevent some things from being great once people's interest increases.Modesty in this thread is not the predominant quality of the nominees.
I think now the OP needs to add a bit of custom rules to the thread so that the actual countdown post that is far from being ranked isn't done by some users anymore. Less than 10% - 15% to the next rating I think is good and would probably be great to consider. But I'm sure, some user are starting to notice it and I think the interest is going to drop a bit now.
