BCCI earns alot from IPL still they keep an eye on associate nations share which is not a good thing. BCCI dont want more tests teams since that will destroy the supremacy of BCCI in cricket. We need more nations in cricket, BCCI must help its neighbor Nepal to join as Test team.
Rather than adding more nations why not focus of increasing the quality of cricket among the nations which are already playing cricket?
Even the old teams like Bangladesh, West Indies , Zimbabwe performances are not as they should be and we have only 3 to 5 teams which are considered to be strong team in world cricket.
ICC may assist the cricket board but the responsibility of player selection depends on the local cricket board. If there is corruption then how we can get quality of cricket or cricketers. I think ICC has nothing to do in this regard. But if their nominated persons are aware then some progress can be expected in this concern. But that too cannot be enforced when political interference comes into cricket. The condition of Bangladesh, West Indies, Zimbabwe is like that, but in recent times, Zimbabwe cricket has come up in a better position than before. It can be said that their cricket has improved a lot.
I am absolutely not saying that there is no corruption in other sports. In a lot of sports, there are corrupt boards, but I dont think those are corrupt at that level like cricket is.
I think there are other sports which are actually more corrupt, but that corruption is quite limited to the board, and individually. At least that corruption does not help to do anything with the sports body as far as I know.
And we can talk about FIFA if we want. I know Fifa is corrupted, and that is a big reason why FIFA is hosting the previous World Cup and also this World Cup in countries which are not famous for football.
But at least they are trying to give all teams equal value and respect. But the ICC absolutely does not care about any of that. They only care about money and that is why they also do not care about whatever happens to the quality of the teams playing cricket.
There is a documentary about FIFA on netflix and it shows how corrupt the sport business are. There is a whole mafia behind all the entertainment - but about yesterday match with England - Pakistan did their best - but they failed. Pakistani fans are still happy and appreciating their efforts.
