So, it's not Electrum which can't handle the many transactions, but it's the servers which aren't willing to provide a history that long, correct?
Yes, it's set to almost all Electrum server programs available to prevent DDOS/request spam.

But still, I would have expected that Electrum let's the user know that there is a problem and, therefore, the shown values can't be trusted. Instead, as shown in the screenshot of my last post, everything seems to be fine from the GUI user's perspective (green ball in the lower right corner and no error message).
Agree, an error would be nice instead of forcing a connection while not being able to syncronize.
You can follow Abdussamad's suggestion and add a "
Feature Request" to add an error message when your wallet failed to fetch transaction history.
