What an unexpected turnout by India against a strong Kiwi side. They outplayed them in literally every department and this is a great start for Pandya as a T-20 international captain. Split-captaincy turned out to be a great idea so far.
Am expecting the Kiwis to bounce back in the 3rd match though despite the absence of Williamson and the series will most likely end in a draw.
It was a remarkable performance by India. I said that because India did not have the best 11 in this match. But New Zealand came in with the highest-ranked players that they had.
It must be said that New Zealand's bowling was ineffective. They should have done better. All of them were very expensive. Surya Kumar Yadav got his century, by the way, a really good innings from him. Batsmen of India were hitting the ball everywhere. They were toying with the bowlers of New Zealand.
On the other hand, New Zealand batsmen were getting out because of the wrong choice of shots. They did not have any meaningful partnerships to speak of. Let's see if New Zealand can win the last one.
In the first match, the New Zealand batsmen were defeated by the Indian bowlers. New Zealand's bowling failed to dismiss the Indian batsmen within a few runs. But hopefully New Zealand will correct their mistakes and defeat India in the next match.
