Atletico Madrid still have so much to do while we are talking about Barcelona and Real Madrid most of the time. Because the title competition is going on between these two teams only. Atletico Madrid are even worse in this season. There is a significant level of drop in their performance and this has affected them in a bad way not only in the La Liga but also in the Champions League. They have only the La Liga left in their hands as a big tournament from now on after finishing the CL group stage at the last place.

I really wonder what Simeone is planning to do in the second half of this season. If he doesn't manage to have a better run then I won't be surprised in case of a decision to leave his job.

I just didn't expect the impact of Atletico being eliminated in the Champions League to be so bad, even though for me this is still a normal result. Because even though for example Atletico qualify for the last 16, in reality Atletico always have a low chance of being able to go further and usually only get stuck until the quarter-finals or fall in the last 16.
So, even though Atletico's results in the Champions League this season are poor, it doesn't mean Simeone will lose his place just because he failed to lead Atletico to qualify for the last 16 in the Champions League.

Also, although Atlético are currently fifth in the La Liga standings, the gap in points to return to third or at least the top four is still a possibility.
That is, Atletico have not lost their chance to finish in the top four this season, because with Atletico who will only focus on La Liga, I personally believe that Simeone will still be able to bring Atletico back to the top four soon.
