I can't speak for BlackJack from actual experience, but as an illustration, doubling down in BlackJack decreases house edge by 0.2%. For Craps, a game which I always play, you can play with a lower house edge if most of your strategy plays around the No. 6 and 8, or if you play a strategy that uses the Don't Pass line and the Come Bets in combination.
