I can say that the initial plan of Newcastle United is to end the league above 10 in the table or in the best scenario to be able to go to the Europa League but as the fact and matter is going it seems that Newcastle United is more lucky to have entered the top four in the first phase of the English Premier League. this time around they will have to do everything within their power to remain at the top four and when they are able to go to Champions League next season they will be able to sign any player in the world. What players want is money and to be able to play in Europe competitions.
Newcastle's big plan this season is to fight and prove that they have progressed. I don't think they have very big targets at the moment like qualifying for the Champions League or winning the title. It might make sense to aim to qualify for the Europa League by finishing in the top 5 of the table, but Newcastle's main aim this season is to play well and get maximum points.
For me it is still very difficult to expect Newcastle to be able to perform consistently in the second half of the season, but it is not impossible that they can surprise the Premier League this season by qualifying for the Champions League if Chelsea, Liverpool or some other competitors are slow.
When you set a smaller goal and achieve it very easily, there is a tendency that you will set a bigger goal. Newcastle is no longer in this race to get any result. They are in for the title race and they can achieve it. This is because Newcastle have only one competition to focus on and that is the English Premier League. They will have all time to rest players and play once every week. And they have good players that will accomplish this task.
