This one was the most tragic moment of this world cup for me, the Brazilian players were very good and Neymar performed well enough to win this game.
No, no way, Croatia played extremely well and it was their credit. The Croatians may not have the technique that the Brazilian team has, but they knew how to manage the game and the Brazilian players were "lost" on the field. The Croatian coach took out defensive players and put in offensive players, they had the opportunity to counterattack and they took advantage of that chance. The Croatians played as if it were the last game of their lives, Modric was a genius, he managed the team, and, incredible as it may seem, he is already 37 years old.
Modric was a true leader and an example of a player. I really admired his leadership and just football skills. Croatia played great and they deserved it but I think another reason is Brazilians were actually bad. South American teams especially but mostly every big team played worse than expected. This can be because the defences are getting much much better than even 5 years ago, but I also think it is because national teams are generally getting bad. Everybody plays for their clubs much more willingly than the national teams. That is why Brazil was also much worse than expected and they were beaten by a much weaker team.
