The scenario is like always the same in the recent years. Bayern Munich take the lead and win an easy championship. Dortmund follow them right behind and Leipzig - Freiburg - Leverkusen trio share the positions right below. This season is a little more different of course. Some teams are not having a good season.
Leverkusen started the season really horrible. They are still far away from the top positions now. Xabi Alonso's arrival has started to change something by the recent weeks though. They won their last three games. But their road is really full of obstacles until reaching top 4. I have big doubts about their making it there.
In this season we are having some changes under Bayern Munich and most chances things could be at their best for the few teams like Leipzig, Freiburg and Frankfurt are doing amazing stuff which is allowing them for having better results and chance of ending at the top of league table even Dortmund is still capable for having impressive results but now this season they have to fight hard for the pace with Leverkusen is also nine points behind from the fifth spot Berlin.
And basically they are unpredictable and inconsistent which can't do good in this season even Xabi Alonso having good impact on their form after coming as coach but still very long way to go if they want to have any fair chance for the European Competitions because now look like few teams are also having improvement and quality for the staying at the top of league table.
Union Berlin started to disappoint their fans by getting so many bad results in a row recently. But their position in the league is still quite good for them actually. Maybe they might not be able to keep up with Bayern Munich from now on. But they are definitely among the strongest candidates for top 4. They just need to start a good form quickly to pull themselves together.
We will see how Frankfurt will deal with the Bundesliga and Champions League both at the same time. They have done a pretty good job so far.
The way Union Berlin started this season, many thought they would continue to challenge for the title at the end. But now Union Berlin is fifth in the points table. Their performance is very poor. They have won just one and lost three of their last 5 matches. They are 7 points behind Bayern Munich. Union Berlin has no chance of challenging for the title. Also, with Berlin's current form, it is very difficult for them to qualify for the Champions League. Unable to return to form, Union Berlin will not be among the top 4 teams in the table.
