But after the penalty things started to change.
I am maybe biased since I am Croatian, but I don't really think that was a penalty. Alvarez ran into Livakovic, there was nothing he could do really. But I agree that goal shook us way more than it should have as up until then Argentina didn't create nothing really.
I understand your point of view, but the GK went out for the ball, missed it, and took the man down in the process; how is that not a penalty? Running into a striker without making contact with the ball is a straightforward penalty. Didn't you notice how quite the GK was? He never protested because he knew what he did was wrong; if VAR had intervened, it could have resulted in a red card, which is why the Croatian players did not push for it. They were aware that it was a penalty and accepted their fate
All in all, Argentina was better (and smarter) team tonight, no question about it. You can only reach so far without a quality striker, so far us even semifinal is a success. I just hope our team can recover from this loss (Modric was extremely disappointed) and prepate for Saturday and game for the 3rd spot so we can at least repeat the success from 1998.
Modric and Kovasic had a good game , the rest were below average today.
