LOL.. when I first saw this thread, not even in my wildest dreams I imagined that it will stay alive up to the very end of the competition. To be fair, I wasn't expecting any of the African teams to progress from the group stage. And now we have Morocco who will play tomorrow against Croatia for the 3rd place. And it is going to benefit them financially as well. If they end up with the 3rd price, they will receive $27 million. Even in case they lose, there is no need to get disappointed. The fourth placed team will be getting $25 million from the FIFA.
I was also one of the first people who didn't put any hope that any African team would make it through the group stage, for me at that time I just thought that we Africans wouldn't be able to get that far because I was based on the design that our African teams had over time of CAN in which they didn't score many goals, so I saw the Africans also not managing to score many goals in that world cup, but I was very surprised when I saw that the African teams were surprisingly managing to score many goals and were having good defense, the teams Africans were playing equally with most teams, our biggest mistake was in attack, and that is something that Africans need to correct. we always make the same mistake of wasting opportunities to score a goal and that costs us a lot, I think croatia is the favorite team to win this game, precisely because morocco doesn't have a good attack
Morocco conceded an unfortunate goal at the start of the match. I think this goal came really early and messed up all of Morocco's game plans. Despite this, they played well against France. They were the dominant side throughout the match and they had many scoring chances but were unable to balance the score. Especially if El Yamiq's aesthetic volley shot had been a goal, the match could have entered a very different atmosphere. Frankly, before the match, I thought that France would win the match more easily, but they did not win this match easily. They scored an early goal and took advantage of the score throughout the game. Morocco were close to reaching the final in this match. If they had been a little more accurate on the final shots, we could be talking about a huge surprise today.
The early goal was a setback for the Moroccan team but lets be factual, the French team were just too tough for the Moroccan team. They played well in the match but France have a very formidable attack too good to break through the Moroccan defense opening them up and created good chances to get two goals in the game. Morocco had some good chances too but were unable to find the back of the net but in the end I am proud of this Moroccan team for their confidence and professionalism through out the competition.
as I commented before, the biggest problem for our African teams is precisely that we waste many opportunities when it comes to scoring goals, if we want to win the World Cup one day then we need to have a CAN that has many goals, we need to have teams with strikers who score a lot of goals, people who when they go to play against big teams in europe manage to score a lot of goals, that's the only way we can win the world cup one day
