I think it is important to address a few myths and facts about gambling because there seem to be many irresponsible people claiming many different things...
If anyone has any myths/facts of their own to add, please feel free to do so in this topic!

Myth 1: Most religion perceive gambling as a sin.

Fact: It is only Islam that specifically forbids gambling. Other religions warns about love of money, covetousness and greed. There is no place in most Holy books that gambling was prohibited but the Holy Bible warns about making haste to get wealth. But most religious fanatics see gamblers are sinners that would face eternal damnation not considering that some gamblers see the act as a form of entertainment.

Myth 1: Gamblers are irresponsible and ne'er-do-well in the society. Due to the misbehaviors of some gamble addicts that borrow or even steal to gamble. Most people in my area sees gambler as irresponsible and carefree people that are unorganized.

Fact: Most gamblers are responsible and well established professionals in different fields. They don't see gambling as a source of income but a form of pleasure and entertainment.

I think you are completely right and even in Islam in their holy book some colleagues of mine have told me that there is a verse which says "you will find little benefit in it and most damage" something on those lines meaning that even Islam does not consider it completely forbidden,at least that is my understanding as a Christian.

In Christianity usually people who go to church do not gamble or maybe are just like me that they go to church on Sundays and gamble privately online and no one knows it,I don't know how to define gambling in here in our religion.
