Myth 5: You have to gamble very frequently to be considered a gambling addict
Fact: A gambling addict may gamble more or less often. Gambling is an addiction if it causes problems in your life, regardless of how often you gamble.
The general public perception is if you gamble frequently you are already considered a gambling addict which is not true but the public including your friend thinks that you have a problem and you are already addicted because their definition of addictive is if you do something frequently, not when gambling is doing harm in your personal and work, its hard to change this perception because its what authorities are preaching.

Myth 6: Having a gambling addiction is the result of being a weak-willed, irresponsible, or unintelligent person.
Fact: Gambling addictions can affect anyone of all backgrounds. Even people who used to be responsible and strong-willed can develop a gambling addiction just as quickly and easily as anyone else, even for people with higher educations or higher social status.
Some people can't believe that professionals can become addicted and their defense is you are professional and intelligent to fall into gambling, their perceptions of gamblers are unkempt and uneducated and those with unhealthy families, there are professionals that are addicted and cannot handle themselves.
