[TLDR, I've been a BTC holder & member of Bitcointalk since 2014, back when got my childhood best friend into it. He just died. So, I'm trying to find an easy to use & non-custodial online wallet that I could fill up with some coins of mine, as an ongoing Christmas gift to his parents & sisters, who are the actual #bitcoinbeginners]
Hi everyone.
So, my TLDR kind of sums it up, but I'd really appreciate your input on this ;
Me and my friend had been fascinated about crypto & building stuff around it since 2014, but he never told his parents (which I've known forever), as didn't want to scare them (rightfully so).
Thing is, he passed away in May, at age 30. So, I was the one who had to explain all that Binance stuff to his parents, and eventually, we gained access to his account (they sold it all to cover the costs of having someone die, I believe. (I decided not to ask further, past that point) but I managed to explain to them what decentralized digital assets meant to us, and why we were so excited about those things.
Anyway, I wanted to send them a little mix of my own coins ( BTC of course, ETH, XMR, and LTC ) .
My first idea was, printing out Paper Wallets while creating a Blockfolio account which they could use to track the price of those crypto vs their amount, via an easy App.
Not much for the value of those coins, but rather to keep a bond between them and their kid, and also myself, in a more selfish manner.
I just found out that Blockfolio had been acquired by FTX, so I guess this is gone. And frankly, I haven't been up to date with the recent stuff. Mind you, their parents are from the Boomer generation, and even though his dad was in the tech business (me and my friend were both building websites back at his place in 2000, aged 10) I really don't want to bug them with installing wallets & managing private keys and so on.
Sorry, it's not very "Christmas-like" and wholesome, but hey.
I figured I'd ask anyway.
Bless you & your loved ones.
By the way : do no EVER try to ask anything to those pieces of shit on Reddit. They will ban you, block you and leave you on the side of the road.
Especially those on r/BitcoinBeginners

Fuck these guys. I wish Bitcointalk was what it was back in peak 2016.
